There still hasn't emerged a tradeshow for the transport companies. Mobile World Congress seems like a next-best fit, but they'd be swallowed up by the mobile universe. Broadband World Forum might not be big enough (I haven't attended one, so I'm saying that second-hand).
As data center operators get more interested in issues like optical transport, the customer base will open up beyond that handful of carriers everybody wants to sell to. Would that mean it's time to restart a transport show like NFOEC used to be? Or is the answer as simple as letting the NFOEC half of OFC/NFOEC continue its re-growth?
Or maybe, as we all discussed when Supercomm went down, the need for big tradeshows is fading...
