NEW YORK -- 4G chipmaker Sequans Communications S.A. (NYSE: SQNS) announced that one of its LTE chips has been certified to operate on the Verizon Wireless 4G LTE network. The chip certified is the SQN3120 Mont Blanc platform LTE semiconductor solution, one of Sequans’ StreamrichLTE products for high performance LTE devices. “Certification by Verizon involves the passing of performance tests that prove our chip’s advanced capabilities,” said Georges Karam, Sequans CEO. “For our device manufacturer customers it ensures a robust solution and shorter time to market for new LTE devices. For end users it ensures their high expectations of service quality will be met. “LTE is the fastest growing technology in the history of wireless and according to industry analysts is projected to have one billion subscribers by 2016. This ubiquity sets the stage for LTE to appear in a very wide range of devices, not only handsets and tablets, but also the entire world of LTE-connected consumer electronics and M2M devices. As the provider of one of the industry’s most compact and cost-effective chips for adding LTE connectivity to all types of devices, we envision a rapidly growing market,” added Karam.Verizon Wireless
