IRVINE, Calif. -- Broadening its family of optical communications devices, Toshiba America Electronic Components, Inc. (TAEC)* with its parent company Toshiba Corporation (Toshiba) today introduced a portfolio of 10 gigabits-per-second (Gbps) optical components. The centerpiece of the new 10Gbps device family is the TOTR370M, a transponder module which provides an integrated transmit and receive solution for use in networking and telecommunications infrastructure equipment. Toshiba's growing lineup of optical communications products also includes discrete 10Gbps transmit and receive modules and discrete solutions, as well as TOSLINK(TM) fiber-optic devices and custom ASICs for networking applications.

"Offering transmit and receive functions in an integrated module, our 10 gigabits-per-second transponder provides designers with a complete solution that helps streamline the design cycle," said Jay Heinecke, director of business development, TAEC's Optoelectronic products.
