News Wire Feed - Post a comment April 25, 2000 : Corning Incorporated reported today that its first-quarter earnings before special items increased more than 75%, exceeding Wall Street's revised consensus by 9 cents. While virtually all of its high-technology businesses performed well above expectations, demand was especially strong for the company's optical fiber and optical-networking products used to support the growth of Internet and e-commerce traffic.
