Tieto Speeds Cloud, SDN

February 26, 2013 |
HELSINKI, Finland -- To enable a migration path towards virtualized network functions and SDN technologies, and increased use of best-of-breed components in open environments, Tieto today announced the availability of commercial Solution Accelerators and tailored professional services to accelerate business growth and increase R&D efficiency within the Network Equipment Provider ecosystem.

Tieto will showcase its Carrier Cloud Solution Accelerators as part of a virtualized Carrier Cloud Telecoms proof of concept demonstration at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona from February 25th through February 28th (booth F84, Hall 6). The demonstration focuses on how wireless applications can be implemented in software and virtualized on multi-core Intel platforms, and addresses the challenges of deploying virtualization and SDN in telecoms networks.

The proof of the concept is built using multi-core Intel® Xeon® processors, and integrates advanced software optimizations from both Tieto and Intel, including the powerful packet processing framework provided by the Intel® Data Plane Development Kit (Intel® DPDK). Integrating these advances with cloud-based technologies can deliver the potential to open the telecoms network to allow for new innovative service designs which promote ecosystem cooperation and best-of-breed solutions.
