The Sky Is Falling

This just in from our New Jersey bureau. The sky is falling. And it is a common occurrence.

In a recent posting from Bruce Springsteen's hometown of Freehold, N.J., the AP reports that:

A metal, rock-like object about the size of a golf ball and weighing nearly as much as a can of soup crashed through the roof of a Monmouth County home ... Nobody was injured when the oblong object, weighing more than 13 ounces, crashed into the home and embedded itself in a wall Tuesday night. Federal officials sent to the scene said it was not from an aircraft.

Think that's freaky? Not when compared to the reply from the local astronomical authorities:

"It's not all that uncommon to have rocks rain down from heaven," said Carlton Pryor, a professor of astronomy at Rutgers University.

This is serious. Perhaps France's new National Space Studies Center (CNES) can help? (See They Came for the Cheese.)
