Traditional summertime confab moves to October and changes its event management personnel
Supercomm, the telecom industry's largest catchall tradeshow, will take place Wednesday, October 21, 2009 through Friday, Oct. 23, 2009 at Chicago's McCormick Place Convention Center, Ron Mathews, the show's new event director told Light Reading today.
The show previously was set for June 8 through June 11, 2009.
Mathews says the date change will help the industry better assess where the economy's going, and how big an impact the $7 billion in Recovery Act funds will have on the show's vendor exhibitors and their service provider customers.
"As broadband infrastructure stands to be a critical recipient of the economic stimulus package that we hear about every day in the news, we anticipate accelerated growth in our industry," Mathews says. "We really want to take advantage of those opportunities that are offered to our industry, and that [date change] allows us to do it."
United States Telecom Association (USTelecom) and Telecommunications Industry Association (TIA) are still the owners of the Supercomm show, but this year the management of the show is being handled by Expocomm Events LLC, a joint venture between E.J. Krause & Associates Inc. and Reed Exhibitions.
Light Reading will have more reporting and commentary on the tradeshow's date change and evolution very soon.
