FREMONT, Calif. -- VeEX, a global leader in Telecom and CATV test solutions, announces the immediate availability of the FX300 OTDR series, a product optimized for today’s optical fiber networks.

Equipped with optical performance rivalling larger traditional and more expensive OTDRs, the unit offers impressive measurement capabilities to install, verify and restore optical fibers spanning a range of applications including FTTx, metro Ethernet, and mobile backhaul and long haul deployments. High resolution data sampling (cm), small dead zones (<1m) and high dynamic range (up to 45 dB) ensure users can characterize fiber deployments to their full potential.

Expert and novice users alike will benefit from the intuitive operation and large, 7 inch full color touch screen – coupled with powerful measurement and processing capabilities, the unit can quickly evaluate fiber anomalies that exceed user defined thresholds, reducing fiber outage and system downtime. The unit also incorporates an Optical Power Meter (OPM), Optical Light Source (OLS) and Visible Fault Locator (VFL) to verify fiber loss conditions and visually troubleshoot bad splices, macrobends, and connectors.

Weighing only 3 kg (< 6 lbs), the FX300 compact form factor is perfectly suited to address the portability and space constraints typical of curbside FTTx cabinets, manholes and other confined work areas. The ruggedized chassis incorporates a fan and vent free design that prevents dust and moisture ingress, thus it is perfectly suited for the challenging outside plant environment.

The FX300 will make its debut at the ECOC Fiber Exhibition and Conference (booth #417) in Cannes, France and the SCTE Cable-Tec Expo (booth #1245) in Denver, Colorado.
