NICE, France -- TM Forum Live! -- The south coast of France is beautiful to behold in June, but despite what our first set of pics suggested, the Light Reading entourage wasn't in Nice to get a tan. (See TMF Live! Pics: Have a Nice Day.)

Click on the image below to see some of the sights from inside the annual service provider IT (SPIT)-fest that is the TM Forum Live! event. (OK, there are a few more snaps of Nice too...)

Bright Light, Nice City
The sun was so bright it made everyone look a little pasty as they approached the event's entrance.

There was plenty going on at the show too. Get the latest by checking out our dedicated TM Forum Live! industry show news site.

TMF in Nice style
Nice is not a bad place to be any time of the year. :) The characters dressed up in masquerade gowns look like a good reminder of where this event was taking place. Very Nice style.

Re: #latergram
@mendyK I've found that to be true at the conferences and expos I've attended (a bit less so in the heyday of the dotcom days). It also holds at Bitcoin conferences, where I'd guess about 2/3 were male. It is possible to lie with pictures without Photoshop though, all you have to do is capture an atypical group -- like a 4 or so with at least 2 women present --  to make it look like there were as many women as men there.

Re: #latergram
Yes, males outnumber females at telecom trade shows. The gender gap looks like it is shrinking, though. But pictures don't lie, unless Photoshop is involved.

Was the event as male-dominated as the pictures indicate?

Sarah, that's just the way those pictures turned out on my iPhone - it was weird but nothing intentional on my part.

Understanding the full experience of women in technology requires starting at the collegiate level (or sooner) and studying the technologies women are involved with, company cultures they're part of and personal experiences of individuals.

During this WiC radio show, we will talk with Nicole Engelbert, the director of Research & Analysis for Ovum Technology and a 23-year telecom industry veteran, about her experiences and perspectives on women in tech. Engelbert covers infrastructure, applications and industries for Ovum, but she is also involved in the research firm's higher education team and has helped colleges and universities globally leverage technology as a strategy for improving recruitment, retention and graduation performance.

She will share her unique insight into the collegiate level, where women pursuing engineering and STEM-related degrees is dwindling. Engelbert will also reveal new, original Ovum research on the topics of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, security and augmented reality, as well as discuss what each of those technologies might mean for women in our field. As always, we'll also leave plenty of time to answer all your questions live on the air and chat board.
