HERZLIYA, Israel -- FTS, a global provider of billing, charging, policy control and payment solutions, today announced that it has extended its relationship with national telecommunications provider Cameroon Telecommunications (Camtel). Camtel has signed a significant licensing expansion contract and renewed its agreement with FTS for convergent charging and billing support. FTS is also due to implement a major hardware upgrade project on behalf of the provider, which offers a wide range of voice, data, VSAT and Internet services to its residential and business customers in Cameroon.

Camtel first deployed FTS’ Leap Billing in 2007 to support its charging, billing, customer care and interconnect operations across its fixed, mobile and Internet services. Since then, FTS’ Leap Billing has enabled Camtel to develop exceptional revenue opportunities via an enhanced subscriber experience and effective customer support, leading to improved customer satisfaction.

In this latest agreement, FTS provides Camtel with additional licenses resulting from a growth in the number of the operators’ subscribers, extended maintenance and support, a hardware upgrade and a disaster recovery plan (DRP) infrastructure. FTS has a substantial client base in Africa and is well-acquainted with the challenges faced by the region’s operators. Leap Billing helps operators to dramatically reduce the time and cost of any change requests, allowing billing to rapidly adopt new services. Using FTS’ solutions, Camtel’s back office teams are able to act at the speed of marketing with a much lower total cost of ownership (TCO).
