T-Mobile to Get Apple Products in 2013
Deutsche Telekom AG has just revealed that T-Mobile USA will officially get Apple Inc. products for the first time in 2013.
BTIG Research analyst Walter Piecyk spotted that the German parent company buried the news in a release Thursday morning. It didn't reveal exactly what Apple products T-Mobile will get.
"T-Mobile USA has entered into an agreement with Apple to bring products to market together in 2013," the operator tersely said.
T-Mobile users have been unofficially using iPhones on the operator's network for a while now. Apple doesn't currently support T-Mobile's AWS (1700/2100MHz) spectrum, but the operator has been re-farming its 1900MHz 2G for HSPA+, which Apple does support.
Why this matters T-Mobile is the last of the big four carriers to get the official Apple stamp of approval. The operator could potentially even get a 4G LTE iPhone as it starts to deploy that technology in 2013.
