Huawei Memo Suggests Major 2012 Growth

January 04, 2013 | Ray Le Maistre |

Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. may have had a turbulent 2012 in various international markets, but the company still has a lot of paying customers.

Huawei is set to report full-year revenues of more than US$35 billion and net profits of around $2.4 billion for 2012, according to a memo published on the company's website.

For 2011, Huawei reported revenues of 203.9 billion yuan renminbi ($32.7 billion) and net profit of RMB11.65 billion ($1.87 billion).

If the 2012 figures are verified in its audited annual report, Huawei will have increased its annual sales by more than 7 percent and its profits by about 28 percent.

And if its 2012 revenues do exceed $35 billion, Huawei might overtake Ericsson AB as the world's largest communications network systems supplier. In 2011, the Swedish vendor was just a little bigger than its Chinese rival in terms of total sales.
