LITTLE ROCK, Ark. -- Windstream (Nasdaq:WIN), a leading provider of advanced network communications, announced today that it has been awarded a contract valued at $3 million by the Defense Information System Agency (DISA) to provide diverse fiber services to Fort Campbell and Dover Air Force Base.

DISA's current fiber network will be expanded into Fort Campbell, home to the only Air Assault Division in the world and located between Hopkinsville, Ky., and Clarksville, Tenn., creating additional route diversity and redundancy. Dover Air Force Base, located just outside of Dover, Del., will benefit from the same expansion efforts.

Augmenting the current network design will provide a faster network to both military bases. Windstream will install two half-10Gbps waves for fully diverse fiber paths into the facilities, tying those paths together to connect back to Windstream's national fiber network. The custom-designed solution will allow the thousands of employees at both Fort Campbell and Dover AFB to consistently connect to a secure, reliable network, increasing productivity and efficiency.
