Second-biggest retailer in the world partners with OTT platform provider Saffron Digital to launch a new multi-platform entertainment service in France.

LONDON -- Carrefour, the second biggest retailer in the world, has partnered with OTT platform provider Saffron Digital to launch in France a new multi-platform entertainment service. Nolim Films, which is set to be one of the biggest UltraViolet launches this year, went live in France yesterday and will enable customers to buy and rent TV and movies to watch wherever and whenever they choose.

Initially available on smartphone, tablet, television and computer, Nolim Films features the latest Hollywood blockbusters including Gravity, Godzilla and Edge of Tomorrow; and hit TV shows including Gotham, The Walking Dead and Arrow; as well as local French content. Customers will be able to rent and/or buy UltraViolet and non-UltraViolet content which will be automatically added to their digital library. They can then stream the purchased content directly to their connected devices or downloaded for offline playback.

Nolim Films will also enable customers to redeem UltraViolet codes. This will give them free digital copies of movies purchased on DVD or Blu-ray Discs that have the UltraViolet logo on the package. All purchased UltraViolet content will then appear in a customer’s Noël Prioux, Executive Director of Carrefour France, said, UltraViolet locker alongside all other UltraViolet purchases.

Using its premium OTT platform, Saffron Digital designed and developed the complete multi-platform UltraViolet service. The end to end solution which includes content preparation; content management; storefront services; application design and development; a digital locker and UltraViolet integration; as well as a secure player, will enable Carrefour to deliver a seamless experience across all devices.
