Alphion Shrinks the GPON OLT

December 13, 2012 |

NEW DELHI, India -- Alphion® India Private Limited announced today the launch of the AOLT-4200, small-form factor, Optical Line Terminal (OLT) platform that specifically addresses rural broadband and mobile backhaul applications. Alphion® India is exhibiting its full range of GPON products at the India Telecom 2012 exhibition, in New Delhi, India, December 13th – 15th.

“The AOLT-4200 platform was developed at our Research and Design centers in Mumbai and Chennai to meet the unique requirements of the rural broadband environment and is being locally manufactured by our partner in Sriperumbudir, Tamil Nadu” commented Dr. Bharat P. Dave, Chairman and Managing Director of Alphion® India. “The platform also includes the critical timing features needed for wireless mobile backhaul. The ability to efficiently backhaul large amounts of data through GPON based access networks solves a major constraint for today’s and future wireless networks. The AOLT-4200 addresses the bottlenecks and inefficiencies created in wireless backhaul networks as broadband access becomes dominant in base station backhaul and the size of the wireless cells decreases.”
