PBT in the Spotlight

Love it or hate it -- and we know some of you really hate it -- it's hard to ignore controversial carrier Ethernet technology Provider Backbone Transport (PBT).

And Light Reading is certainly not ignoring it. In fact, quite the opposite, because we have a new in-depth, free, 10-page report on the topic, a supplementary report on 17 vendors' positions relating to the technology, a new Light Reading readers' poll, and much more.

In addition, PBT, or PBB-TE (Provider Backbone Bridge -- Traffic Engineering) as it's known in its standards process at the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Inc. (IEEE) , is also set to be the focus of Day Three at this year's Ethernet Expo: Europe 2008 event in London (April 14-16).

Also at that event, BT Group plc (NYSE: BT; London: BTA)'s director of IP and data platforms, Karl Penaluna, will provide an update on 21CN Ethernet products, including PBT-related services, in his keynote address on the second day of the conference. (See BT to Update on Ethernet Plans .)

That's a lot to take in, so here are some helpful links to take you to our new reports, the poll, and details of the upcoming Ethernet Expo:
