Finnish mobile operator Elisa is deploying Juniper's MobileNext evolved packet core (EPC) platform to manage its 4G traffic, the two companies announced Tuesday. This is the first announced deal for the MobileNext platform, which is one of the new range of products that Juniper hopes will drive sales growth in 2013 and beyond. Nokia Siemens Networks (NSN) has appointed Samih Elhage as its CFO, replacing Marco Schroeter, who is leaving the company with immediate effect. Former Nortel executive Elhage has been chief operating officer (COO) at NSN since March 2012. The COO role is now being discontinued.
Full-year revenues at U.K. mobile joint venture Everything Everywhere dipped 2.6 percent year-on-year to £5.95 billion (US$9.22 billion), while pre-tax losses reached £249 million ($385 million) in 2012, compared with the £113 million ($175 million) loss it saw in 2011. It seems the advantage it gained from being granted a head start on 4G in the U.K. was not enough to counter the effect of the EC-imposed cap on lucrative roaming charges and other price pressures. Swedish pay-TV provider Com Hem AB has chosen Verimatrix Inc. to provide the security for its multi-screen TV services scheduled to launch in the spring and delivered via the TiVo Inc.platform. Com Hem supplies 1.7 million Swedish households with pay TV and other services.
U.K.-based VTLWaveNet is expanding its European fiber network with three new points of presence in London, including the London Stock Exchange site.
