SubPartners, TE SubCom Set APX-West Plans
EATONTOWN, N.J. -- TE SubCom, the sub-sea communications unit of TE Connectivity Ltd., and sub-sea cable operator SubPartners have announced a system supply contract for the latter’s APX-West submarine cable system from Perth, Australia to Singapore. APX-West will deliver low-latency, diverse capacity between Australia and Singapore.
APX-West is a four fibre-pair system with an ultra-long haul design, delivering much-needed capability and resiliency to the region. It will connect Perth, Australia to Changi North, Singapore with planned branches to Jakarta, Indonesia and Christmas Island. The system is approximately 4,700km long and has an initial design capacity of up to 32 Tbps. It is expected to be ready for service by Q2 2015.
