2:20 PM -- Simon Cowell may have the X Factor, but Ron Martin is the man with the "Ex Factor."

Only days after he packed up his desk at ADVA Optical Networking -- which, in the words of ADVA's CEO, "did not represent the right opportunity" for the seasoned optical vendor executive -- Martin snipped the "Welcome" ribbon at Infinera Corp. That means Martin is now the ex-Fujitsu Network Communications Inc. , ex-Cisco Systems Inc. (Nasdaq: CSCO), ex-ADVA man.

So the question now is: Where next? Is he gathering optical business cards with the name Ron Martin on them? Does he harbor ambitions to spend some time at Alcatel-Lucent (NYSE: ALU), Ciena Corp. (NYSE: CIEN) (where he could re-use his Fujitsu red shirts), Huawei Technologies Co. Ltd. , or even Sycamore Networks Inc. (Nasdaq: SCMR)?
