ALLEN, TX -- Xtera, the leading supplier of all-Raman optical transport solutions, announced today that Global Crossing has deployed the Nu-Wave XLS DWDM system on two unrepeatered submarine links between Ireland and the UK. The unrepeatered links are part of Global Crossing's international network and will support the increasing demand for advanced IP and wavelength services, including 10 Gb/s services to Ireland.

Recent demand for higher bit-rate services and increased capacity drove the demand that lead to the deployment of Xtera's Nu-Wave XLS. Nu-Wave XLS supports up to sixty 10 Gb/s channels in a single rack, allowing the upgrade using a minimum of premium collocation space.

Xtera's Nu-Wave XLS is designed to support up to 500 km for new unrepeatered links, enable re-deployment of existing submarine fibers and provide significant capacity upgrades for existing unrepeatered links. Supporting up to 600 Gb/s in a single bay, the system is perfect for space-constrained applications.
