LOS ANGELES -- ZTE Corporation (0763.HK / 000063.SZ), a major international provider of telecommunications, enterprise and consumer technology solutions for the Mobile Internet, today announced the successful transmission of single-carrier PM-256QAM signals at 34-Gbaud over a distance of 80km standard single mode fiber (SSMF) for the first time, and verified that constellation shaping technology can greatly enhance 400G 256QAM transport performance. This set a new world record in 400G single-carrier signal transmission and laid a solid foundation for the research of high-speed single-carrier optical transmission technologies.

The result of the experiment has been filed by the Optical Fiber Communication Conference & Exposition, and the National Fiber Optic Engineers Conference (OFC), and recognised as a ‘Highly Scored Paper’ (the highest score in the assessment conference), which indicates that ZTE’s world-leading research in the beyond 100G field has been extensively approved by the industry. Only two percent of the papers submitted to the OFC can be awarded as a Highly Scored Paper. After being selected and recommended by leading industrial and academic experts, the papers will become authoritative references in the fiber communications field.

Yu Jianjun, the director of the Optics Labs of ZTE in North America said: “400G and beyond transmission is definitely a mainstay of the next-generation high-speed optical network signal transport. New technologies allowing high-speed and long-distance optical signal transmission are urgently required to eliminate weakening transport performance caused by limited bandwidth. In this context, ZTE has made a lot of ground breaking progress.”

In the face of the upcoming beyond 100G era, global mainstream vendors are now devoted to deploying beyond 100G devices around the world and boosting the pre-research on beyond 100G optical transport technologies. ZTE’s demonstration was carried out by its Optics Labs in North America. Set up in 2010 and committed to the research and development of the 100G/beyond 100G high-speed signal transport technologies, ZTE’s Optics Labs has proposed a number of key technologies for 100G and beyond 100G devices, becoming a recognised “Acceleration Engine” in developing global high-speed optical communications transport technologies.

ZTE has always been a leader in developing innovative 100G/beyond 100G technologies, and is experienced in deploying 100G networks. Thus far it has helped large high-end operators in Asia Pacific, Europe and Latin America build more than 300 100G networks. The total length of fibers used for building the network is over 300,000km. According to the latest report showing global optical network market share released by OVUM, ZTE stably ranks in the top two in the global optical network market.
