PETALUMA, Calif. – Cyan (NYSE: CYNI), a leading provider of SDN, NFV, and packet-optical solutions for network operators, today announced that Windstream, a leading provider of advanced network communications headquartered in Little Rock, Ark., has selected Cyan to help upgrade its regional and metro networks to 100G utilizing Cyan’s Z-Series packet-optical hardware.

Initial deployments of this new infrastructure are underway with the introduction of a new packet-based 100GbE network across major Windstream markets. This will allow Windstream to offer advanced IP services for small to medium businesses and higher speed Ethernet broadband services to residential subscribers. In addition, Windstream will be in a better position to compete for higher margin competitive services including data center and cloud connectivity, wireless backhaul, research and education networks.
