(Nasdaq:ONIS - news), a leading provider of optical telecommunications equipment for metropolitan and regional markets, today introduced its newest product addition to the ONLINE(TM) optical transport platform, the ONWAVE(TM) OC-48 SONET/SDH Add/Drop Multiplexer (ADM). The new ONWAVE OC-48 ADM delivers STS-1 switching and grooming functionality within a circuit pack to eliminate the need for separate stand-alone boxes for sub-wavelength grooming. As a result, a service provider's operational costs can decrease because they can reduce space and power requirements, as well as manage wavelength and sub-wavelength services on a single, unified management system. The ONWAVE OC-48 ADM is expected to be generally available in Q2 2001.
