CHICAGO -- Light Reading's Big Telecom Event -- It's almost the end of the second day of BTE, and, when wrapping up the event, it's almost impossible to know where to start, such has been the quality of the presentations and discussions here this week. (See BTE News.)

Now, I'm bound to say that, right? But that's not just my view: The positive response to the morning keynotes and afternoon panels has been overwhelming, and the range of topics the Light Reading team has covered in the past few days (and will continue to cover in the coming week -- we all have very thick notebooks…) is testimony to the range of critical decisions that need to be taken by the telecom community.

The highlight of this event has probably been the range of views, and then following discussions, about NFV. Sure, there is consensus that the network operators are pumped about the potential of virtualized functions, but quite how they will incorporate them into their networks and successfully manage them is the big question, about which there are many and diverse views.

Check out all our NFV coverage, as well as insights into SDN, telco data centers, cloud security, service models, emerging standards, and so much more, on our BTE Industry Show News page:
