LONDON -- Metaswitch Networks today announced that Steve Mullaney, senior vice president and general manager of VMware's Networking and Security Business Unit, has joined its board of directors.

Mullaney was the CEO of Nicira Inc. from 2009 to 2012, when VMware bought the company for $1.26 billion. Prior to Nicira, Mullaney was a veteran of Palo Alto Networks, Blue Coat Systems, Force10 Networks and others, where he worked for more than 25 years in a variety of marketing, product management and engineering roles. He holds a BSEE from the University of Rhode Island.

"Network operators are embracing the cloud and virtualization at a rapid rate and they're building the same type of data center that helped define today's most scalable Internet companies," said Mullaney, senior vice president and general manager of VMware's Networking and Security Business Unit. "This is a really exciting time for the communications industry, and I believe that Metaswitch sits in an industry sweet spot, helping service providers and large enterprises make this transformation."

A CSP's digital transformation involves so much more than technology. Crucial – and often most challenging – is the cultural transformation that goes along with it. As Sigma's Chief Technology Officer, Catherine Michel has extensive experience with technology as she leads the company's entire product portfolio and strategy. But she's also no stranger to merging technology and culture, having taken a company — Tribold — from inception to acquisition (by Sigma in 2013), and she continues to advise service providers on how to drive their own transformations. This impressive female leader and vocal advocate for other women in the industry will join Women in Comms for a live radio show to discuss all things digital transformation, including the cultural transformation that goes along with it.
