Accedian vCPE has been deployed by carriers in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, likely including Cox and T-Mobile.
Accedian announced Thursday that seven service providers are deploying its virtual customer premises equipment (vCPE).
The company also released an adorable promotional video explaining SkyLight VCX, involving abuse of a blender, microwave oven and table saw -- so that was another win for them.
The seven service providers are using Accedian 's SkyLIGHT VCX platform for NFV vCPE. The service providers are looking to assure performance of hybrid cloud connections while reducing hardware and operating costs and improving revenue, Accedian said in a statement. Accedian wouldn't name the service providers, but did say they include four mobile operators in Asia, Europe and the Middle East, as well as two of the largest cable operators and a Tier-1 wireline carrier in the US.
Sources tell Light Reading that two likely SkyLight VCX customers are Cox Communications Inc. and T-Mobile US Inc. , both previously announced Accedian customers.
Skylight VCX builds router functionality, including mapping, service level guarantees and reporting, into a small-form-factor programmable (SFP) unit, replacing expensive dedicated appliances. The VCX is the controller that hosts all the NFV functions that would be embedded in a traditional device.

Accedian calls the product a "smart SFP" or "Nano Module," and compares it to a Roku or Chromecast device for consumer video. Accedian's pitch is that carriers can just slide the device into a FedEx envelope and use it to set up fully managed services for business customers.
In addition to Cox and T-Mobile, other previous Accedian customers include Colt Technology Services Group Ltd , KVH Co. Ltd. , Global Cloud Xchange and TMX Atrium.
