Motorola, Net2Phone & Cedar Point Team Up on VoIP
Motorola Inc., Cedar Point Communications Inc. and Net2Phone will co-market their voice-over-IP (VoIP) services to cable operators. In an announcement at the fall VON show in Boston earlier this week, the three companies said they will jointly pitch a VoIP offering to all MSOs, following a successful deployment with Liberty Cablevision in Puerto Rico. The offering will package Motorola's cable modem termination systems (CMTSs) and telephony cable modems, Cedar Point's switching system and Net2Phone's network management and back-office support. In a related announcement, Net2Phone said it has picked Cedar Point as a preferred partner for the delivery of its VoIP solutions to cable operators. But all three companies remain free to strike deals with MSOs on their own, as Cedar Point did with Comcast last week.
