Vodafone UK 'Hacked via Femto'

6:30 AM -- This could be a grey hair moment for anyone banking on the femtocell market's success -- the Hacker's Choice claims to have uncovered a vulnerability in the femtocells distributed by Vodafone UK that can turn the tiny home base station into an interception device.

Check out the details at this associated blog.

Vodafone UK launched its femtocell service in July 2009. And Vodafone Group plc (NYSE: VOD) is one of the biggest supporters of the base stations. The operator has launched femto services in nine markets -- Australia, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, New Zealand, Qatar, Spain as well as the U.K. (See Brits Get Femtos From July 1 , Vodafone's Femto Empire and Operators Reveal Femto Realities.)
