Twilio, Snapchat and Affirmed top the charts for June's mobile VC action, according to the latest report from Rutberg & Co.
Financial analysts Rutberg & Co say that mobile startups have brought in US$4.1 billion in deals in the first half of 2013, a 7 percent increase over the year before.
Overall, during June 2013, private companies in mobile raised $795 million in 98 venture capital deals says the latest funding report from Rutberg. Some of the biggest earners are working on voice-to-mobile APIs, short mobile video apps and wireless network virtualization technology.
Here's how the top five earners stack up, according to Rutberg:
The top five is more U.S.-orientated and -- in particular -- more California-focused than in many previous months. Rutberg also notes that San Francisco-based Clinke, which is working on a still-secret take on mobile payments, came out strong a seed round of $25 million.
"The round is significant for being the largest disclosed seed funding in history, coming from Accel, Andreessen Horowitz, Intel Capital, Intuit, and a number of notable angels including Marc Benioff, Jim Breyer, and Peter Thiel," the Rutberg report states.
