HELSINKI -- As the mobile malware scene becomes ever more complex and sophisticated, F-Secure and Nokia Solutions and Networks (NSN), the world’s specialist in mobile networks, are teaming up to provide innovative new solutions to protect consumers’ privacy and to keep mobile devices clean from malware incidents. The partnership combines both companies’ years of expertise to address the rapidly developing mobile malware era.

With declining PC sales, figures show that the malware war will increasingly be fought on the mobile front. The number of new mobile malware threats detected continues to grow by at least 25% every quarter.* And last year, for the first time, Android malware was discovered outside app stores, in the form of malvertising and drive-by downloads. Mobile botnets and premium SMS-sending scams attempt to take advantage of consumers.

Meanwhile, consumers expect more security from their Internet service providers. According to an F-Secure survey,** 54% of people are concerned about whether they are safe online when browsing from their mobile phone. And 69% of people think it is the responsibility of their communications or Internet service provider to keep their digital life safe. This view will only increase with the global move towards cloud, as services are moved from the device to the cloud and network level.

“NSN strongly believes that best-in-class security can be achieved only by combining the forces of market leading experts. NSN and F-Secure are establishing a partnership to protect mobile users from continuously increasing security threats,” says Thorsten Robrecht, Vice President, Portfolio Management at Nokia Solutions and Networks.
