Amdocs: More M&A to Come?

Amdocs has already had a busy few months in terms of M&A activity but it seems the Service Provider Information Technology (SPIT) giant isn't done just yet.

Industry sources have told Light Reading that Amdocs Inc. has two more takeover deals in the pipeline, one of which is in the mobile commerce sector, which looks like becoming one of the next big battlegrounds for BSS vendors.

Amdocs, which recently landed the 2013 Leading Lights award for Public Company of the Year, already has a mobile commerce proposition for service providers in the form of its hosted Mobile Payments gateway, a carrier billing solution that enables mobile customers to pay for goods and services using their mobile bills.

Now, it seems, the company is set to add to its capabilities with a takeover deal that will make it a broader player in the mobile transactions support solutions sector.

Amdocs was not able to provide any comment on the speculation.

The company has been on a spending spree in the past few months in an effort to make itself a key provider and partner to mobile broadband network operators, having snapped up two companies that are specialists in mobile network optimization and analytics, namely Actix and Celcite. All quiet on the Amdocs front...
Amdocs is keeping the details of its M&A plans very close to its chest, it would seem - is there any speculation out there in the market that would suggest who its is targeting?

Re: M&A target?
Ok, good, withholding scuttlebutt is rude. There are a ton of interesting startups coming out of Israel. I heard about Check recently, which is the most successful mobile bill payment service in the US. It's raised $47M in funding and has an annual growth rate of 1700%. It's one Amdocs should keep an eye on.

Re: M&A target?
Believe me, if I had any more scuttlebutt I'd have included it.... there has been a real increase in the volume of chat out of the SPIT sector in Israel recently, so I imagine there will be further revelations from that sector in 2014. Seems to be heating up there again.

M&A target?
Any scuttlebutt on who the acquisition target might be? Carrier billing is an important functionality, but I wonder what other features are in the pipeline.
