Whether or at least when Augmented Reality will be a big player is one I like to watch. There's of course lots of press and announcements, but when folks will actually buy and use the devices will surely a something the industry would like to predict with more accuracy.

The upsurge in the importance of individual privacy (especially from the EU) was always going to kill the likes of Google Glass before it got properly off the ground

Perhaps you two are not thinking about the same Blackberry. As far as handset is concerned, BB the company has already washed its hand by liccensing the handset out. Head it wins and tail it doesn't lose more anymore.

CEO Chen has certainly invested in the right areas in Cars*, messaging and security.

* if memory serves, besides connected cars (QNX), it also wants a piece of the autominous car pie, which is a huge area

While I'll agree that BlackBerry is likely on its last legs, it's been declared dead for years, yet still seems to stay barely breathing, so it may last until 2019.

I agree that the glasses can be a little creepy, but Big Brother is already watching everything one does.
