STOCKHOLM -- TeliaSonera Global M2M Services will provide connectivity in Tesla Motors’ award winning Model S to customers in Sweden, Denmark, Finland, Estonia and Latvia. The collaboration enables Tesla to optimize the process of deploying and managing connectivity to its electric vehicles, from the factory to the customer. Tesla’s Model S offers an entirely new driving experience, featuring connected services like remote vehicle diagnostics, internet radio, and web browsing, all available at the driver’s fingertips through a 17” touchscreen and continually improved through remote software upgrades.

“Tesla’s Model S demonstrates that connected cars provide an improved driving experience and more cost efficient cars by smart maintenance and management of connectivity,” says Hans Dahlberg, Head of TeliaSonera Global M2M Services.

TeliaSonera’s M2M-services offer Model S customers superior mobile connectivity, putting rich content at the driver’s fingertips through the 17” touchscreen. The digital instrument cluster, steering wheel controls, media, communications, cabin controls and vehicle data is all available through the touchscreen. Connectivity also enables remote vehicle diagnostics to relay information about the car’s safety, security and performance to the driver and Tesla service staff in real time and Tesla service staff is remotely informed about potential issues and part needs ahead of a service visit. The driver is informed through the touchscreen when the car needs service. Maintenance of the Model S is further improved by frequent remote upgrades to the car’s software.
