DALLAS -- AT&T is helping to fuel innovation for machine-to-machine (M2M) communications with a cloud-based M2M "developer sandbox," called the AT&T M2X Developer Kit. AT&T is giving application and device developers the tools they need to connect, store and share data. From trucks and turbines to heart monitors and vending machines, with the AT&T M2X Developer Kit, the possibilities for M2M innovation are endless.

AT&T M2X Developer Kit is an exciting combination of two AT&T services for developers to use to manage connected devices and data from device prototype to product launch:

  • AT&T M2X is a new cloud-based managed data storage service for M2M devices, enabling businesses of all sizes to manage the data they collect from connected devices. The service allows for highly-secure data transmission and data sharing and near real-time event management.

    • AT&T Control Center powered by Jasper Wireless allows M2M developers to sign up, receive and activate SIMs (subscriber identity module), and then transmit and collect the data from these SIMs on any connected machine. AT&T Control Center offers a one-stop solution for network provisioning, device activation, customer support, billing options, performance audits and more for connected devices.

Birdi, a company that provides consumers with a safe, sophisticated, simple air quality device monitored from the palm of their hand, is already using AT&T M2X to provide a connected experience. The Birdi Smart Air Detectormonitors air quality, everyday health hazards, pollution and emergencies like fire and carbon monoxide so that people can stay connected and protected in their home. Birdi sends communications in the way most convenient for the user: smartphone app notification, SMS or phone call.
