The Top 4 US Carriers Have Mobile 5G

It's the early days of summer and all four major carriers are now operating some form of mobile 5G in the US.

T-Mobile is the latest to push out six cities in the United States. The operator has switched on millimeter wave (mmWave) in Atlanta, Cleveland, Dallas, Las Vegas, Los Angeles and New York.

Much like AT&T and Verizon, T-Mobile is initially using high-band millimeter wave for these connections. It is currently offering a Samsung S10 5G smartphone as its only 5G-capable device so far.

All of T-Mobile's current 5G maps are here.

Here's a list of all mobile 5G currently offered in the US:

Why this matters
All of this will change as more 5G devices that support lower-band frequency modes arrive. T-Mobile will launch "nationwide" 5G later in 2019, with AT&T following in 2020. Verizon is planning to roll out 30 more mobile 5G cities on mmWave this year.
