Altice Champions NG-PON2 for 5G Fronthaul

VALENCIA, Spain -- FTTH Conference 2018 -- International operator Altice has highlighted emerging fiber broadband access technology NG-PON2 as a critical element in enabling and supporting 5G.

During a presentation here in Valencia, José Salgado, network system development manager at Altice Labs, explained why NG-PON2 is the preferred integrated access network technology to support residential broadband, enterprise access, backhaul and fronthaul requirements once a 5G radio access network has been deployed. He made a particularly strong case for NG-PON2 as the optimum option for fronthaul.
