10:45 AM -- Today's the big day for WiMax in New York as Clearwire LLC (Nasdaq: CLWR) and Sprint Corp. (NYSE: S) launched their commercial services there today. Clearwire and Sprint also fired up WiMax in four other markets today: Tampa Bay, Fla.; Trenton, N.J.; and Hartford and New Haven, Conn.

According to Sprint, picocells played an important role in building out coverage in New York.
