Clearwire and Sprint also fired up WiMax in four other markets today: Tampa Bay, Fla.; Trenton, N.J.; and Hartford and New Haven, Conn.

According to Sprint, picocells played an important role in building out coverage in New York. Check out this video from Sprint about how it filled in hotspots and covered tall buildings with lamppost-mounted picocells and "upper-deck picos," supplied by Samsung Electronics Co. Ltd. (Korea: SEC). (See Samsung Boasts NYC Deployment.)
