OSLO -- Telenor Global Services (TGS) has launched its LTE Roaming Exchange service to the market, and is the official LTE Exchange gateway for the Telenor Group Companies in their efforts of providing high-quality LTE roaming services to their customers anytime, anywhere. The LTE Roaming Exchange service is based on the Diameter signaling protocol which is an IP-based Authentication, Authorization and Accounting (AAA) protocol that is used for the LTE networks. The service is a single gateway between all Telenor mobile operations and LTE networks worldwide.

Mobile subscribers acquiring the newest mobile devices are increasing. Their expectations of service quality and availability require more and more bandwidth, indifferent of the users are at home or out roaming. This requirement for more network services and functions is driving the need of the mobile service providers to move to Diameter to efficiently handle the associated signalling traffic.

Via a single connection through Telenor Global IPX network to the LTE Roaming Exchange, mobile service providers can quickly and easily deliver global LTE Roaming for their subscribers. As an extension to the LTE Roaming solution, this high quality IPX network is providing the foundation for mobile service providers to efficiently launch any new applications and services in order to meet the customer’s demands for increased user experience whilst they are travelling.
