Much cheaper and quicker turnaround time since a lot of organizations also offer incentives to get additional certifications.

I'm with you @MarkC73 staying on top of the latest technology is a lot of fun.  What is interesting is those is stay employed because they are experts at the old technology that new folks don't know and that companies can't get rid...my brother-in-law has been employed this way by a major Pittsburgh bank for years.  Definitely a market for both skill sets...the old that can't go away and the up and coming.  Just stay away from the here today, gone tomorrow trends.

I've always looked at ways to make my current function obsolete so I can move on to newer things.  Well, maybe not as harsh as that but fundamentally, looking at a constantly changing technology, you gain the neccessary skillsets to function in an enviroment that what's hot today could be tomorrow's old news.  Plus its fun, given the correct environment...  Glad to see the trend is what it is.

Good to hear some positive news
It's refreshing to hear about positive trends in teh midst of news about job losses at companies such as Microsoft.

And interesting to hear about impact of new techs -- good insights Sarah!

Understanding the full experience of women in technology requires starting at the collegiate level (or sooner) and studying the technologies women are involved with, company cultures they're part of and personal experiences of individuals.

During this WiC radio show, we will talk with Nicole Engelbert, the director of Research & Analysis for Ovum Technology and a 23-year telecom industry veteran, about her experiences and perspectives on women in tech. Engelbert covers infrastructure, applications and industries for Ovum, but she is also involved in the research firm's higher education team and has helped colleges and universities globally leverage technology as a strategy for improving recruitment, retention and graduation performance.

She will share her unique insight into the collegiate level, where women pursuing engineering and STEM-related degrees is dwindling. Engelbert will also reveal new, original Ovum research on the topics of artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, security and augmented reality, as well as discuss what each of those technologies might mean for women in our field. As always, we'll also leave plenty of time to answer all your questions live on the air and chat board.
