BRUSSELS -- Today, Belgacom has become the first operator in Belgium to launch ultra-fast mobile Internet on the market. The new Proximus 4G network enables customers to surf on their smartphone, laptop or tablet faster than was ever possible before. This means that, on the go, customers have a similar user experience as they have with a fixed Internet connection. In comparison with 3G Mobile Internet via 4G offers more user convenience, faster connections, and excellent image quality for watching videos. Customers have access to the ultra-fast internet via a selection of tariff plans and options. Belgacom also sells 4G devices in its stores: the 4G USB modem for computers and laptops, the Mobile Wi-Fi 4G, and (in the course of November) the smartphone Samsung Galaxy S3 4G.

In June 2011, Belgacom started rolling out the first 4G network in Belgium. Today, Belgacom has become the first operator to launch it commercially in eight cities: Hasselt, Antwerp, Ghent, Leuven, Liège, Namur, Mons, Waver and the Haasrode Industrial Park.
