Transmode Wins ROADM Deal in US

January 22, 2013 |
STOCKHOLM -- Transmode, a global supplier of packet-optical networking solutions, today announced that SpringNet, a high performance metro service provider and division of City Utilities of Springfield, Missouri, has very rapidly upgraded its optical network by deploying a next generation network based on Transmode's TM-Series platform with its ROADM based Flexible Optical Networking technology.

SpringNet offers metro-Ethernet services to its customers in the Springfield metropolitan area over its own optical network spanning approximately 428 route miles.

SpringNet has deployed Transmode's optical networking solution as a Flexible Optical Network ring designed for 40 channels in order to upgrade the existing WDM network and meet the future demands of customers.

Due to the quick delivery times and the easy installation and commissioning procedures of Transmode's TM-Series, the project moved very quickly from initial vendor selection through an open tender in September 2012 to a live network by the end of November 2012. The upgraded network carries a mix of OC-12, OC-48, Fibre Channel, Gigabit Ethernet and 10GbE traffic.
