His gamblin' friendly name aside, I don't think Carlos Slim is placing bets on share prices with his acquisitions. That's pretty much a sucker's game, and Mr. Slim is no sucker.
T-Mobile Austria says it has replaced its entire 2G network (about 5,500 base stations) with mult-standard base stations that are ready to support LTE. But if T-Mobile wants to repurpose its 1800MHz 2G spectrum for LTE, then it appears that it doesn't yet have the OK to do that from the Austrian regulator.
