Live trials conducted by? It would be interesting to see the details.

However this plays out, this looks like a smart move by ADVA -- it does look like $1 million well spent.

Live pilots over HSPA and LTE networks show cache hit ratios in the range of 30% to 40%, the improvement in users experience due to shortening the Round Trip Time for content delivery and DNS resolution is almost magical.

Regarding the additional complexity and cost, this is mostly dependent on the architecture of the solution. In Saguna case the SW requirement from the HW are very modest and the SW is self managed. Presenting a very attractive ROI cycle.

Most importantly is transparency to all other network elements (i.e. Charging and Lawful Interception) which is an integral part of Saguna solution.

Also it worth mentioning that content caching and CDN services at the access is only the tip of the iceberg in terms of the possibilities to run other cloud applications at the access.

Saguna will be presenting with few of our OEM partners at the upcoming MWC.

Distributed content caching sounds compelling. But Adi's comment about the added complexity and cost of deploying more technology at the cell site makes me wonder how operators will make the business case for caching work.
