On its blog, Ciena has posted some visual highlights from 20 years in business. The outfits aren't nearly as funny as we thought. And what's that character after Lightworks Lou? A Ciena mystery! Someone get us a name.

Was just thinking as I was writing something else that a simple, delightful idea like Instagram could not have come out of a company like AT&T.
If it did, in my satirical universe, the service would only work on AT&T's network, would only share photos on AT&T's Web portal, and it would only be allowed on accounts that dutifully stayed below their monthly data caps for the prior 12 months. Viewing the shared photos would require a separate device, running on a different network. This would necessitate a new data plan and an entirely different log-in. None of your previous data plans, devices, or log-ins would be compatible. You would have to wait on hold an average of 28 minutes to learn this information. Does that sound too far-fetched?
