This behavior is already happening in sports stadiums and during concerts, when folks want to add a little video shot to the "look at me at the game" experience. For the second year in a row AT&T customers at the Super Bowl generated more data than they took in, pushing 125 GB out while downloading only 90 GB.
While stadium owners might feel this pain first it's likely coming to everywhere, not just large gathering spots or single events. If the service providers weren't ready for the download deluge of the last few years, did they learn any lessons for the upload uprising? (like that term!)
Please don't tell me mobile operators and service providers haven't seen this coming... Assymetry on Internet speeds needs to become more symmetrical. Though not regular video broadcasting, group (within families for example) teleconference calls (grandkids calling granparents, sibings planning family events, etc.) with smooth A/V transmission should be on the roadmap.
