Sterling Perrin, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading

Sterling joins Heavy Reading from IDC, where he served for five years as lead optical networks analyst. He has broad experience in providing quantitative and technological assessments of emerging markets such as WDM, metro, and IP-to-optical integration. Prior to IDC, he worked for Standard & Poor's, where he delivered global industry analysis on a range of IT segments. He is a former journalist and editor at Telecommunications Magazine and has also done consulting work for the research firm Current Analysis.


Moderators

James Crawshaw, Contributing Analyst, Light Reading Insider

A regular contributor to Light Reading Insider, James was previously a financial analyst covering the telecom equipment sector for Commerzbank and Citigroup. Before entering the financial services areana, James worked as a industry consultant, advising companies on quality-assurance mechanisms and logistics management. James has a Master's degree in Electrical and Mechanical Engineering from Manchester University.
Joe McGarvey, Senior Analyst, Heavy Reading

McGarvey has been active in the computing and telecommunications research industry for the past 15 years, both as a journalist and analyst. He joined Heavy Reading in March 2007, after nearly five years at Current Analysis, where he initiated that company's carrier telephony and IMS research and extensively covered the VOIP and multimedia services sector. His primary field of focus at Heavy Reading is on VOIP and related hardware and software technologies. McGarvey's opinion columns have appeared in several major telecommunications magazines, and he is a frequent presenter at industry trade shows and conferences around the world. He holds a journalism degree from San Diego State University.
