A 16-year telecommunications industry veteran, Altschul is one of the industry¹s leading experts in wireless site development and policy – with emphasis on conventional and DAS siting. At ExteNet Systems, she is responsible for municipal, jurisdictional, and industry relations, network policy, and marketing and corporate communications. Prior to joining ExteNet, she worked with T-Mobile USA for over 10 years, establishing the programs that created consumers as siting advocates in the cell tower land use process. Prior to T-Mobile, Altschul worked with Verizon Wireless as California Site Development Manager. She has served on several industry committees including The DAS Forum, PCIA State and Local Zoning Committee, CTIA Tower Siting Committee, and Wireless Women's Leadership Forum.
Jose Alvarez, Director, Business Solutions

Mr. Alvarez has 18 years of experience in the telecom industry. He has been with Ericsson since 1991 and is currently leading the team of Energy Efficient and Business Solutions for North America. His main responsibilities are to drive energy efficient solutions by defining competitive, profitable products and services portfolio offerings for Ericsson market units in the United States and Canada. Prior to his current role at Ericsson, Alvarez served as business manager within the Network Deployment organization and product manager in the Networks organization. Mr. Alvarez holds a M.B.A. from the University of Texas at Dallas and a B.S in Electrical Engineering from the Metropolitan Autonomous University in Mexico.
Terry Armant, SVP, Development, Global Tower Partners

As Senior Vice President, Development of Global Tower Partners, Terry Armant oversees all Leasing and new site development activities for the company. Mr. Armant who has 24 years of experience in the wireless industry was previously Sr. Vice President, Deployment for SpectraSite Communications and prior to that was Director of System Development of the northeast for AT&T Wireless, formerly McCaw Cellular.
Saswata Basu, GM, Energy & Security Solutions, Harris Stratex Networks

Saswata Basu is presently a General Manager at Harris Stratex Networks of a new group focused on energy and security solutions for wireless telecom infrastructure. He joined Harris Stratex Networks as a Director of Business Development in April 2006 and successfully led the effort on WiMax and 4G solutions. Saswata has more than 15 years of expertise in the telecom sector. His past experience includes working at several wireless companies such as Intel, Nortel, LGC Wireless, and Cascade Microtech in various managerial capacities. He has also led several entrepreneurial stints, including founding InSpan, which was acquired by Andrew (now CommScope) in 2000.
Rich Berliner, President, CEO & Chairman, Berliner Communications

As founder of Berliner Communications in 1995, Mr. Berliner's corporate vision and professional leadership skills helped to create a powerful services organization that focused on achieving the highest possible degree of customer satisfaction. Under his leadership, BCI has evolved into a powerful organization that provides integrated services and turnkey business solutions to wireless telecommunication carriers. Ron Bilodeau, Staff Contracting Agent, Joint Use Supervisor, NV Energy

Along with supervising the Joint Use Department at NV Energy, Mr. Bilodeau is involved in contract negotiations and administration as well as qualification and standards programs. He is a board member of the Utilities Telecomm Council and is Chairman of the UtiliSite Council Board of Directors. Mr. Bilodeau served in the United States Marine Corps as an Electrical Systems Technician. After his discharge he spent eighteen years in the telecommunications industry, during which he worked in various capacities in design, construction, operations, maintenance, and network management.
Joe Blanchard, VP Product Line Management, ReliOn

Mr. Blanchard has served in his current role since July 2005, having joined the company in April 2005 as Senior Director of Product Line Management. He spent the previous 18 years with Fujitsu in Richardson, Texas, where he held various management positions in development, product management, product support, and services. Prior to Fujitsu, he worked in product development for Rockwell/Wescom and for GTE Automatic Electric. For more than 22 years, Mr. Blanchard has been involved in the design, development, marketing, and support of products spanning DLC/DSLAMs and FTTx systems, telecom cabinets and power systems, optical transport, DWDM systems, Class 5 switching, and PBX systems.
Steve Caplan, Senior Leader, National External Affairs, T-Mobile

Steve is responsible for establishing and driving T-Mobile's national siting policies and public outreach. Over the course of his tenure the company has successfully created comprehensive customer and community outreach efforts across the U.S. that actively engage the company’s site development teams with local communities and governments. Under his guidance, the NEA has expanded its focus on improving site permit applications and zoning successes, while working to educate internal and external audiences with the importance of T-Mobile's robust wireless networks. Steve has been employed by T-Mobile USA for seven years and spent the last 12 years working on land use, zoning, and development issues for wireless service providers in the U.S. and Canada.
Christine M. Crowe, Partner, Wilkinson, Barker, Knauer LLP

Christine Crowe represents wireless and wireline telecommunications carriers including PCS, cellular, paging, and competitive local exchange carriers. She advises clients in connection with a broad array of transactional matters, including mergers and acquisitions, asset sale deals, spectrum leasing, and inter-carrier agreements. She has considerable experience in the negotiation of interconnection, UNE, and collocation agreements on behalf of wireless carriers and CLECs, and has participated in state-run arbitrations and federal court litigation relating to interconnection agreements. Ms. Crowe has been actively involved in multiple rulemaking proceedings before the FCC, and has participated in federal court appeals of FCC rulemaking decisions. She currently serves as a co-chair of the Federal Communications Bar Association’s Transactional Practice Committee.

Don Doty, Former Chairman, National Association of Tower Erectors

Don Doty is a co-founder and former Chairman of the Board of Directors for the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE) and Vice-President of Doty Moore Tower Services, LLC. As former Chairman of the Board of Directors for NATE, Doty provided critical insight on trends affecting the industry and communicated the latest safety practices to association members and others throughout the industry. In his role as Vice-President and co-founder of Doty Moore Tower Services LLC, Doty is actively involved in all aspects of operations of the tower maintenance, service and installation of broadcast TV, Radio and Communication towers and has worked to promote change for the benefit of the industry through his involvement with several associations, including but not limited to, the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), the National Society of Broadcast Engineers (SBE) the American Society of Safety Engineers (ASSE).
Stenia Dziadiw, VP, Power Systems and The Green Energy Group, BCI

Stenia Dziadiw is currently responsible for leading the Power Systems Division and The Green Energy Group for Berliner Communications. As Vice President, she is responsible for overseeing all aspects of the power systems business that provides traditional power systems and alternative energy power solutions to the telecom industry, including systems integration, turnkey design and installation, financing, and refueling. Halyard Capital is a private equity fund based in New York focused on investing in the media, communications, and business services industries. Mr. Eatroff has a broad spectrum of private equity investing experience including telecommunications, wireless towers, cable, publishing, broadcasting, education, marketing services, and IT services. He represents Halyard on the Boards of Education Dynamics, Engauge, Impremedia, NuLink, and Presidio Networks. He has been involved in a variety of investing and financing transactions with many of the public and private tower companies including Spectrasite, American Tower, Crown Castle, and SBA. Ed Farscht, CEO, Diamond Communications LLC

Mr. Farscht partnered with Och-Ziff Capital Management in 2006 to form Diamond Communications. Diamond currently owns 286 towers throughout the U.S. Prior to Diamond, Mr. Farscht led the corporate development effort at AAT Communications as AAT grew from approximately 300 to approximately 1,800 towers in three years through ten acquisitions and several hundred new tower builds. Prior to AAT, Mr. Farscht was a Managing Director at Bear, Stearns focusing on the US and European wireless infrastructure sectors from 2000 to 2002. Mr. Farscht’s other previous positions were at CIBC World Markets, Citibank, and Salomon Brothers. Mr. Farscht graduated with an MBA-Finance from Columbia Business School and BS-Accounting from Rutgers College.
Greg Friesen, Director, Product Manager, DragonWave

Greg Friesen holds B.Sc. in Electrical Engineering from University of Saskatchewan. Mr. Friesen has 10 years experience in network design, planning, engineering, and product management at a number of communications firms, namely Nortel Networks, Innovance Networks, and Fundy Telecom. As Senior Product Manager at Innovance Networks he was responsible for all product definition, architecture, and network design. He has been involved in the planning and engineering of over 10 nationwide network deployments. His experience ranges from operations and Capex modeling to network architecture design to site and link engineering.
R. Clayton Funk, Managing Director, Media Venture Partners

Clayton joined MVP in 2004 after spending over seven years with a Kansas City-based investment banking firm specializing in various areas of telecommunications, media, and publishing, where he was responsible for developing its presence in the wireless tower industry. At MVP, Clayton and his team work with clients in a variety of areas of shared telecommunication infrastructure including towers, distributed antenna systems, and data centers. Since 1997, he has closed over 60 tower deals encompassing all kinds of transactions including sale-leasebacks for various wireless carriers, build-to-suits, and sales involving broadcast tower sites. Marc Ganzi, CEO, Global Tower Partners

Mr. Ganzi was the sole founder of GTP in 2003 and is responsible for all fundraising, banking, and M&A activities at the company. He has enjoyed a successful career as a real estate and telecommunications entrepreneur. Prior to GTP, he worked as a consulting partner for DB Capital Partners in New York. Before that Mr. Ganzi was the President and co-founder of Apex Site Management, and was a co-founder of Eureka Broadband. He also enjoyed a successful tenure for the U.S. Department of Commerce’s Foreign Commercial Service Department as an assistant Commercial Attaché in Madrid in 1990. In addition, he served as a White House Intern in 1989.
Larry Harris, Vice President Mergers and Acquisitions, SBA Communications Corporation

Larry Harris has served as a member of the Mergers and Acquisitions group at SBA since 1998. He has been involved in over 375 transactions for the acquisition of over 5,000 towers. He has over 14 years of experience in the wireless industry having held various management positions within the organization including Strategic Development and Site Acquisition. Nyhl Henson, Chairman & CEO, Broadspot World Wide Wireless

Broadspot’s mission is to acquire locally branded dialup ISPs in underserved broadband markets, rollout fixed wireless broadband networks, and become a national broadband media distribution company. Mr. Henson was a co-creator of Nickelodeon TV and a key contributor to the development of MTV. He was instrumental in the launch of Warner Cable’s Qube project in Columbus, Ohio, the world's first commercial interactive TV service and precursor of the Internet. He played a key role in the conversion of Warner Communications' Star Channel into a satellite-delivered service. He later took the MTV concept to Nashville where he created Country Music Television (CMT) and served as Chairman and CEO.
Jim Hopkins, VP Sales, SiteMaster

Mark Lies, Legal Counsel, National Association of Tower Erectors

Mark A. Lies II is the attorney for the National Association of Tower Erectors (NATE), and a partner in the Chicago office of Seyfarth Shaw LLP Attorneys. His primary practice areas involve occupational safety and health law and employment law. In his occupational and health law practice he has represented employers on a national basis in complying with occupational safety and health regulations, as well as representing employers during OSHA inspections, OSHA citation enforcement proceedings and trial of OSHA cases before federal and state agencies and appeals to federal and state court. Mark has trained local ASSE chapters on professional liability issues which arise with safety and health consultants.
Stuart Little, Director of Corporate Marketing, Harris Stratex Networks

Stuart has been involved in the wireless transmission industry on three continents for over 20 years, starting as a radio engineer with the Royal Australian Air Force and Amalgamated Wireless Australasia. This was followed by positions in Technical Sales and Marketing in the U.K. with Nera and Digital Microwave. Since 2000 Stuart has been based in California, holding positions in product management and marketing with Digital Microwave (subsequently renamed Stratex Networks). In 2007 Stuart became responsible for global corporate marketing for Harris Stratex Networks, the result of a merger that year between Stratex and the Microwave Division of Harris Corp., which formed the largest independent provider of microwave transmission systems in the world.
Jake MacLeod, Principal VP, CTO & Bechtel Fellow, Engineering & Technology, Bechtel Communications

Jake is a wireless industry veteran of over 30 years. He joined Bechtel in May 2000, and was charged with establishing Bechtel’s communications engineering services to include all aspects of design from network planning to optimization. He initiated and developed Bechtel’s RF and Network Planning teams, which grew to over 150 world-class engineers. He designed and developed Bechtel’s state-of-the-art telecom laboratories, which provide clients with applied research and development services. Jake’s teams designed and deployed 12 new switching centers in Baghdad in 2003 to replace what was destroyed during the war. He has held management positions with Southwestern Bell, CellNet, NovAtel, Western Communications, West Central Cellular, and Hughes Network Systems.
William MacNamara, Vice President & Partner, Agility Ventures LLC

Bill directs Agility Ventures' sales and marketing activities. He has an extensive history in developing new companies and expanding the sales and profits of existing corporations. He was instrumental in setting into motion the first equipment leasing company catering exclusively to Wireless Internet Service Providers (WISPs). Agility Solutions managed a successful $13 million equipment leasing fund, which was closed in December of 2007. Agility Ventures and Fund II have been created to provide additional funding, continuing to support the needs of this expanding industry. Fund II is expected to be in the $40 million to $50 million range. Bill has launched two WISPs. He was instrumental in the setup and design of both broadband wireless systems and is intimately familiar with line-of-sight wireless services delivery and with the complete ramp-up of wireless in a new city. As a consultant he specializes in business plan development, financial projections, and market positioning.
Steve Mailey, Director of Engineering, General Dynamics Wireless Services

Steve Mailey is Director of Engineering at General Dynamics Wireless Services where he is responsible for engineering and business development for carrier customers. In this role he provides technical expertise for the engineering and implementation of commercial wireless networks. Prior to joining General Dynamics Steve worked for many years as a technical consultant for several U.S. carriers, his technical proficiency covers all the major commercial wireless technologies – GSM, EDGE, CDMA, EVDO, WiMAX and UMTS. Steve earned his MS in Telecommunication for University of Adelaide, Australia and his Bachelor of Engineering in Electronic Engineering from University of South Australia.
Eric Munsell, Environmental, Safety, Health & Security Manager, Telecommunications, Black & Veatch

Eric leads and manages the ESH&S function across the division, providing: vision, strategic development, management, and governance of all aspects of the ESH&S program, including risk assessment, mitigation, compliance assurance, continuous improvement, and the development and implementation of best practices. Darrin M. Mylet, President, Business Development & Regulatory Affairs, Spectru-Station

Mr. Mylet founded Spectru-Station, a startup wireless spectrum administration and management solutions company that is working with several other Silicon Valley startups in the wireless and mobile applications sector on developing new business models and technology innovations. From 2003 to Jan. 2009 he was with Cantor Fitzgerald, where he worked to expand the firm’s unique trading technologies and business objectives relative to wireless. Prior to Cantor-Fitzgerald, Mr. Mylet was VP Sales and Marketing, Americas, at Radiant Networks, a U.K.-based pioneer in “physical mesh” broadband wireless equipment. Previously, he was an executive with MFS/Worldcom/MCI and GTE. He is currently serving the Department of Commerce Spectrum Management Advisory Committee. He has spoken at numerous industry events.
Matt Newton, Partner, Columbia Capital

Since joining Columbia Capital – a private equity firm focused in communications, media, and technology investing – in 1996, Matt has focused on the wireless communications field, where he has led numerous investments in licensed spectrum holders, wireless operators, tower and wireless infrastructure developers, and wireless broadband service providers. Previous investments with Columbia Capital include spectrum licensees CCTV Wireless and WCS Wireless, wireless broadband licensee WNP Communications, and Optasite (a tower owner and developer acquired by SBA Communications in 2008). Matt is currently a member of the Boards of ExteNet Systems, Tristar Investors, Cleveland Unlimited, Progeny, and MindShift Technologies. Prior to Columbia Capital, he was with Dean Witter Reynolds.
Kathleen O'Brien Ham, VP Federal Regulatory Affairs. T-Mobile USA

Kathleen O'Brien Ham oversees T-Mobile USA's work before the FCC. Prior to joining T-Mobile, she worked for 14 years at the FCC in a number of top policy positions, including Deputy Chief of the Wireless Telecommunications Bureau. She also served on the Spectrum Management Task Force and was involved in the intergovernmental advisory committee that negotiated the allocation of third generation (3G) wireless spectrum. She is a graduate of Catholic University Law School where she is also an adjunct professor of law. She received her undergraduate degree from the University of Colorado, with a Bachelor of Science in Journalism.
Daniel E. Rebeor, Senior Director, National Real Estate, Cricket Communications Inc.

As Senior Director, National Real Estate, Dan is responsible for all facets of Cricket’s real estate activities including tower and DAS vendor management, property management, facilities, and broker relations. Prior to this role, he served in a number of operational and business development roles at American Tower Corp. and SpectraSite Communications, serving most recently as the Director of Real Estate for the Building Solutions Group. Before entering the telecommunications field, Dan was in-house counsel for two regional title insurance underwriters and practiced law in Ohio. A frequent speaker at industry seminars, he is the former chairman of PCIA's Zoning Committee.
Rick Rotondo, Chief Marketing Officer, Spectrum Bridge

As co-founder and CMO of Spectrum Bridge, Rick Rotondo is responsible for planning and implementing the company’s marketing strategy. He brings over 20 years experience as a telecommunications professional to Spectrum Bridge, and regularly presents on RF and technical radio topics at various industry events. Prior to co-founding Spectrum Bridge, Rick was VP of Marketing for MeshNetworks, acquired by Motorola in 2004, where he established the company as the ad hoc networking brand leader by working with partners, journalists, analysts, and industry associations. His initiatives resulted in hundreds of articles and over two dozen industry awards from entities such as the WSJ, Wired, the IEEE, and others.
Daniel Ryan, CEO, BAC Communications Infrastructure Group

Mr. Ryan joined Berlin Atlantic Capital in July 2007 as the Chief Executive Officer, Partner, and Founder of BAC Communications Infrastructure Group. Before joining BAC, he helped lead a wireless consulting company and expanded its operations by developing a land use department and tower development program. Mr. Ryan studied history as an undergraduate at the State University of New York at Albany and received his Juris Doctor from New York Law School. He has significant business and legal experience in various industries including communications, financial services, real estate, and commercial development.
Veronica Sayer, Senior Manager, Master Agreements, T-Mobile Towers

Veronica has 14 years of experience in wireless site development and management. She started with Western Wireless, building out the launch markets of Albuquerque and El Paso as Western Wireless spun off Voicestream Wireless. Until 2000 she managed site development – leasing, zoning, and project deployment. She then worked on the ATT Wireless (and Cingular) projects until 2005. Veronica managed deployment in the Northwest, and served as national program manager of site acquisition for Bechtel prior to rejoining Voicestream, which had since been acquired by Deutsche-Telekom and become T-Mobile USA. As Manager of National Agreements, she negotiates master leases and manages relationships across all of T-Mobile's national landlords.
Dave Schneider, Director, Municipal Relations, ExteNet Systems

As a charter member of the ExteNet Systems team, Dave has touched nearly every aspect of distributed antenna system deployment. He has over 25 years of experience in land development, zoning, and governmental coordination within both the private and public sectors. Prior to joining ExteNet Systems, Dave served as the National VP of Strategic Sites for TrinTel Communications. Earlier in his wireless career, he also provided regulatory and site acquisition services for Cingular, Nextel, and Sprint PCS. Before entering the telecommunications industry he worked as a City Planner for Ann Arbor, Mich., Canton Charter Township, Mich., and Coconut Creek, Fla.
Mike Seymour, VP Wireless Solutions & Marketing, Alcatel-Lucent

Mike Seymour is responsible for business development and technical consulting for all wireless technologies and NGN/IMS core solutions in the Americas Region. He is responsible for evangelizing Alcatel-Lucent’s value proposition across the wireless and core portfolios and supporting complex solutions for customers in the Region. He most recently held the position of VP of Partnerships for the Mobile Access Division. He previously held the position of VP of Alcatel-Lucent’s WiMax North American Program. In this capacity, Mike was responsible for business development, technical support, and project management for WiMax across all market segments in North America. He is a member of the Board of Directors of the Wireless Communications Association International.
David Siegel, Director, National Sales & Customer Relations, T-Mobile Towers

Siegel has helped guide the company to achieve a more customer focused perspective when helping wireless service providers collocate on T-Mobile owned sites. Since joining T-Mobile Towers in 2008, he has helped increase its customer satisfaction scores, reduce its cycle times for collocations, and double its collocation staff. He has conducted numerous seminars on customer service and improving customer relationships. Prior to joining T-Mobile Towers in 2008, Siegel spent three years at Crown Castle as the VP of Sales for the West Area, where he earned Sales Person of the Year Award (2006), and three years as the Regional Counsel for T-Mobile’s development team in the Mountain West.
William Sill, Partner, Wilkinson, Barker, Knauer

Mr. Sill has extensive experience in both government service and private practice. He previously worked in the Mass Media and Common Carrier Bureaus of the FCC, where he was chosen to lead a Direct Broadcast Satellite Task Force and to become a member of the International Conference Staff. Since entering private practice, he has established himself as an expert in the field of wireless communications, representing telecommunications clients on regulatory, operational, and transactional issues. Mr. Sill has served as telecommunications counsel on transactions ranging in size from single system sales to multibillion-dollar megamergers. Jason R. Steele began building towers in 1998 while being a full-time firefighter for the city of Springdale, Arkansas. He has since built and owned towers throughout Arkansas, Missouri and Oklahoma. In 2005 Mr. Steele had to leave active duty from the Fire Department due to a spinal injury. As an individual tower owner, he has been involved in every aspect of tower construction from concept to completion, including reviewing legal contracts, site acquisition, zoning, permitting, construction, and final completion work. Mr. Steele sat on the advisory board to the planning commission and was instrumental in developing the tower ordinance for Washington County Arkansas.
John A. Storch, VP Network Deployment, Clearwire

Mr. Storch is responsible for building and deploying Clearwire’s advanced wireless networks, designed to deliver true wireless broadband performance in a mobile environment. Since joining the company in July 2004, he has directed the expansion of Clearwire’s network footprint to more than 50 domestic and international markets. Additionally, he manages Clearwire’s public safety and municipal wireless activities. A wireless industry veteran with domestic and international network deployment experience, he has served in advanced technology and key engineering management roles with Western Wireless, Nextel, PacTel Cellular, and GTE Mobilnet. In addition to network deployments in the U.S. for these firms, Storch developed networks in Seoul, S. Korea, and southern Germany, deploying a variety of wireless technologies including two-way radio, point-to-point microwave, wireless data and paging, cellular-class services (GSM, CDMA, TDMA, iDEN), and advanced deployment techniques such as fiber optic fed distributed antenna systems in the late 80s.

For the past six years, Mr. Whiddon has worked for Crystal Flash Energy – a large Midwestern fuels supplier that serves commercial transportation and back-up generator markets with propane, diesel, and biodiesel. He has presented on the subjects of biodiesel and ultra low sulfur diesel at dozens of energy fairs, colleges and conferences. He holds a graduate degree from Oregon State University and a BS from Grand Valley State University in Michigan.
Alan Zublatt, VP, Wireless Siting Solutions

Alan has worked for the telecom industry, its carriers, tower companies, outsource vendors, and related infrastructure providers on virtually every aspect of telecom siting, zoning, permitting, governmental siting, regulatory compliance, and bidding programs for over 18 years. He has authored published articles on zoning and planning and the relationship of the federal Telecommunications Act to local home rule. He has spoken at the 2007 PCIA Wireless Infrastructure Show and the 2007 CTIA/Tower Technology Summit convention, and also has given training to Planning Officials and provided planning and zoning training for new Planning Board and Zoning Board members.
