The Event

The xTCA Ecosystems Conference is the premier one-day event where the communications industry gathers to address the platform as a whole and looks at the components and business issues involved in delivering commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) solutions for the converged IP network. It brings together five of the top industry groups that are driving the COTS space together with a pre-qualified audience of equipment company product managers, engineers, VPs, and architects, along with the leading xTCA companies and organizations from all levels of the open platforms supply chain. Moreover, this year the xTCA Conference is collocated with the Embedded Systems Conference (ESC), the major East Coast systems show, which is run by our sister company, Tech Insights. Last year the ESC Boston Show had 3,500 attendees of whom 31 percent were involved in the purchase of communications systems and subsystems. Developed by Light Reading and Heavy Reading, this year's show will focus even more on how telecom equipment companies are using xTCA to drive profitable solutions for applications such as IPTV, 3G and 4G mobile data, VoIP, network security, and broadband.

In such a quickly growing market (ATCA Sales are expected to reach $7.2 billion by 2012) this event will bring attendees up-to-date on the latest developments from all levels in the supply chain – from component and middleware vendors to system integrators, equipment vendors, and carriers. The event will be of particular benefit to anyone developing or planning systems for telecom and enterprise services including IPTV, 4G and LTE mobile data, VoIP, network security, and broadband.

The xTCA Ecosystems Conference will investigate several issues with a view of the whole platform:

  • The latest trends and developments. Where are COTS platforms being adopted? Is MicroTCA here yet?
  • Platform applications and middleware. Has the COTS approach reached the middleware? When to buy an integrated system or roll your own? What are the key requirements for open system software for telecom? Where does virtualization play in COTS?
  • Platform hardware. Platform hardware requirements for telecom, interoperability, high-speed interconnect, 40 Gbit/s and beyond, MicroTCA review, deployments and next steps, how to keep all this cooled, and data center developments.
  • System integration. How does flexibility affect adoption rate and the upgrade rate? What does it take to deliver the best user experience?
  • How are xTCA-based platforms changing the telco market? Who's making money? Is the economic crisis an opportunity for open systems? What's next?
The xTCA Ecosystems Conference builds on a rich legacy from previous Light Reading ATCA events and communications ecosystem conferences as well as leveraging the Embedded Systems Conference Boston by offering:

  • Compelling carrier, telecom vendor, and industry speakers and panelists who will provide unmatched insight into the evolving ATCA and communications ecosystem

  • Lively panels of industry experts who will discuss the most important aspects of deploying open platforms in general sessions addressing key business and system development issues

  • Opportunity to meet key industry players with booth presentations

  • Unique view into recent developments within leading industry organizations including PICMG, SCOPE Alliance, CPTA, The Linux Foundation Carrier Grade Work Group, SA Forum, and OpenSAF
