Leading Lights Extension!

3:55 PM -- Relax already, you won't have to stay late tonight after all.

Light Reading's editors -- not always thought of as the friendly and accommodating type -- have decided to grant a five day extension for entries into our Leading Lights Awards program.

For those of you who have difficult reading the Website (and judging by the number of calls I've gotten today, it's plenty of you), yes, the new deadline date listed front and center on our home page is correct: It's 10/11/2006.

Here's another quick FAQ for those common questions:

Is there another way to enter other than filling out the Web form?

No, you lazy *&^.

Who can enter??

Anybody. But you should have some relation to the telecom industry. Please do not enter hair-care products.

What are the awards and who will judge them?

More details here: Turn On Your Leading Light. If we've never spoken to you, don't read your Website, have no idea who you are, nor have made any effort whatsoever to engage in the Light Reading community, should we enter?

Sure, we're all for meeting new people. Some of the finalists last year were new companies that submitted entries via the Web. Good luck.

Where and when will the winners be announced?

The ceremony will be held live at the Links Executive Summit 2006. Winners will be published the next day on our Website. Please come to our conference. It's fun, you'll meet people, and it's in Santa Barbara, for gosh sakes.

So be forewarned -- now that we've granted you that extension we'll be even grumpier at 8 p.m. on October 11th when you phone in pleading for mercy.

So, fire away -- or be fired. It's your call.
