Lantiq Intros New GPON SoC Solution

MUNICH and NEUBIBERG, Germany -- Lantiq, a leading supplier of broadband access and home networking technologies, today introduced the FALCâ„¢ ON-S, a complete GPON Optical Network Unit (ONU) system-on-chip in a compact 11 x 11 mm package. Thanks to its small size, high integration and unique power saving features, FALC ON-S is a leading edge solution for Small Form-factor Pluggable (SFP) modules with fully integrated GPON Optical Network Unit functionality. The chipset enables a simple upgrade to GPON backhauling for a variety of broadband access systems like MDUs and WAN-agnostic gateways.

FALC ON-S’s small form factor and very low power consumption that exceeds the European Code of Conduct requirements for years 2013 and 2014 also make it an ideal solution for the emerging small cell wireless architectures.
